
For children and young people to recover from early traumatic experience, whether caused by maltreatment or serious neglect, they need to replay the DVD of their earlier life with a safe parenting person. This helps them to rewire their brain for a productive and satisfying life. So, they ideally need a safe, emotionally literate and attuned adult (or two!) to help them replay that DVD. They need to have that relationship acknowledged as being central on their journey to recovery.
