Trauma Series Session 8 Wellbeing 29th April 2025

This is an 8 session course: 27th & 28th January 10am – 4:30pm at the Lake House, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th February 9:30am – 12:30pm online, 28th & 29th April 10am – 4:30pm at The Lake House.

Talking about feelings and considering our wellbeing
Within sessions 7 & 8 Dr Treisman will guide us through creative ways of expressing and talking about feelings and a shine spotlight on our own wellbeing.
These sessions explore ways of finding more engaging, fun, thought provoking and creative ways to ask the questions such as “How are you feeling about…?” and “How do you feel?”
It covers:

  • having thorny and uncomfortable conversations
  • expressive and creative tools in team meetings, supervision, parents/carers communication etc.
  • helping children express their children’s feelings about their life/situation/ experiences/transitions
  • highlighting the voice of the child
  • what to do when someone says, “I don’t know”, how scaffold and layer conversations
  • key messages we need to model, explore, and teach children and adults about feelings
  • core therapeutic skills e.g. using miniatures, building blocks, masks, drawing, games, worksheets, cards
  • why wellbeing is important, how this can impact us, how it can show up; some of the things we can do to try to mitigate it
  • how we can regulate ourselves
  • recognising secondary and vicarious trauma, burnout, compassionate fatigue, and moral injury
  • thorny bits of fostering and working in children’s homes and some of the impact on our own wellbeing and regulation
  • what brings us joy about our work
