Sefton Council is excited to announce it has joined Foster4, a pioneering foster carer recruitment hub working across Cheshire and Merseyside to find more foster carers for local children who need safe, loving homes.

Foster4 is a collaboration between nine Local Authorities: Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Warrington and Wirral. By working together, the hub helps to recruit more foster carers, provide stronger support, and make sure children can stay in their local communities whenever possible.

Right now, there are over 5,000 children in care across Cheshire and Merseyside, but only just over 1,200 approved local authority foster carers. That’s why Foster4 is on a mission to inspire more people to think about fostering.

When you foster through Foster4 and your local authority, you are:

  • Supporting a not-for-profit service
  • Helping children and young people stay in their communities
  • Accessing enhanced training, support and fees
  • Joining a welcoming community of local foster carers

To mark Sefton Council joining the Foster4 partnership, the fostering bus roadshow came to Sefton. The specially converted double-decker bus visited Southport Chapel Street and Aintree Retail Park, with large outdoor screens showing inspiring interviews with foster carers. Local people dropped by to meet the Foster4 team, ask questions, and hear first-hand from foster carers about the difference fostering can make.

The events attracted lots of interest and sparked some fantastic conversations with residents who are now exploring the idea of fostering.

Foster4 continues to run information sessions and events across the region, making it easier than ever to take the first step towards fostering.
