This session will help foster carers and key workers understand neurodiversity – such as autism, ADHD, and sensory processing differences – and its impact on children in hospital settings. We will explore the overlap between neurodiversity and trauma, recognising how both can shape behaviour and responses to stress.

Using real-life examples, we’ll discuss challenges that neurodiverse children face in medical environments, such as sensory overload and communication barriers, and share practical strategies to support them before, during, and after hospital visits.
