How to approach family time when the plan is for the child to return home to their parent(s).
This course will highlight the key practice principles with Family Reunification. It outlines laws and policies guiding reunification. As a fostering family, you emotionally invest in the child’s wellbeing, the challenge of managing family time during a transition plan is considered. Practical ideas to promote effective communication and coping strategies will be discussed alongside lessons learned from real-life examples.
This course was requested by experienced foster carers who noted that this aspect of their role was particularly challenging. This session will offer guiding principles and a thinking space to consider next steps for families supporting their children to become reunited with their birth family.
